Nicaragua
Nicaragua is a democratic republic in Central America. It has a surface area of 129,494km² and a population of nearly six million. The country’s official language is Spanish and its capital is Managua.
Inter Campus Nicaragua was founded in 2014 in partnership with the Nicaragua Joven association to foster social reintegration and education for 140 children aged six to 11 coming from tough neighbourhoods in Managua: El Recreo, Jorge Dimitrov, Altagracia, Barrio 380, Rene Cisnero, Jonathan Gonzales.
Some of the youngsters involved in the Inter Campus scheme are already part of a project with the national police force, who play an important role in Nicaraguan society, maintaining public order but also supporting young people in need. Inter Campus therefore backs up the concrete commitment shown by the national police to work together in protecting the youngest members of society. Local educators are also trained as part of the programme.
