It was 2016 when the first project presented by Inter Campus was selected among many candidates. The UEFA Foundation for Children decided, for the first time, to support the Nerazzurri’s activities in Israel and Palestine, where football was – and still is – used as a tool for integration and to promote a culture of dialogue.
From that moment on, many shared projects followed, such as the one in Venezuela in 2018, aimed at addressing the country’s socio-political crisis through sport.
Then came African Black and Blue, kids’ resiliency development through sport and football, a project involving Angola, Cameroon, Congo, and Uganda in building resilience pathways for the benefit of children, families, and communities.
In 2023, once again Venezuela and Colombia, with the project Colombia & Venezuela Facing Crisis Through Football: Sport as a Tool to Prevent Deviant Behaviors in High-Risk Communities. A new application of football, used to prevent the most common forms of deviance in those areas: substance abuse, violence, and school dropout.
At the same time, the collaboration with the University of Milano-Bicocca and the Marine Research Center (MaRHE), in the Faafu Atoll in the Maldives, saw the Nerazzurri shirt used as a lever toward a new environmental awareness in a country that depends on its natural resources, with particular attention to marine wildlife protection, pollution, and sustainability. An innovative project, implemented thanks to a lateral vision that demonstrates the versatility of sport and its role in the 2030 Agenda.
Today, Inter Campus and the UEFA Foundation for Children are once again together for another important initiative based on sport and values. The project approved in November 2025 is now underway: Sport EurHope: promoting inclusion in its various forms (gender, socio-cultural, religious, and ethnic) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, Poland, and Hungary.
The shared idea between Inter and UEFA is to use sport as a development tool, with specific attention to the condition of young people. The details of this collaboration are available on the UEFA Foundation’s website in the section dedicated to this initiative.
The UEFA Foundation for Children, founded on April 24, 2015, aims to reach the most vulnerable people, transforming the fundamental values of sport – such as human dignity, solidarity, and hope – into opportunities to improve children’s lives.
