[Inter Campus in Bosnia and Herzegovina: football as a tool for integration]

The Inter Campus mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina has come to an end, with the delegation working in Sarajevo, Domanovići, Srebrenica and Ključ alongside local partners and the Italian Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by Ambassador Sarah Eti Castellani.

The aim of the Inter Campus project in the country is to use football as an educational tool and a means of social integration for boys and girls from the different ethnic and religious communities of Bosnia and Herzegovina — Bosniak Muslims, Catholic Croats and Orthodox Serbs — by creating shared spaces for meeting, growth and cooperation. In this context, sporting activities represent far more than simple training sessions: they become real opportunities to build relationships, friendships and shared educational paths in territories that are still living with the social and cultural consequences of the conflict of the 1990s.

During the mission, the delegation monitored the activities already underway in Sarajevo and Domanovići, while institutional meetings were held in Srebrenica and Ključ to assess possible future developments of the project. Particularly significant was the visit to Srebrenica, a city that symbolizes the memory of the Bosnian conflict, where discussions with local institutions and organizations confirmed how essential it still is to create opportunities for dialogue and interaction for younger generations. Through football, Inter Campus continues to promote values of respect, inclusion and mutual brotherhood, with the belief that educating young people to grow together is a concrete way to look toward the future and prevent the divisions of the past from being repeated.
