If it’s true that it’s not just about what is said, but who is saying it, then being able to chat about sport with none other than the man who – as a defender – scored a goal to win the first Copa América for his country is not one of those experiences that you forget in a hurry.
Ivan Ramiro Cordoba, who has spent a good part of his life wearing either the Inter jersey or his national team’s jersey, answered questions from the Inter Campus boys and girls, alongside their coaches, brought together from all over Columbia. He is not only an honest and hardworking captain, but a calm person in a hectic world. He is capable of emitting his charisma with a smile and a quietly spoken word, which nevertheless resounds in the computer microphones which we are now used to communicating and interacting through. Bright eyes, from one screen to the other, awaited his next piece of advice.
“You have to say no to drugs, because they take you down a dark path,” and be hardworking “to such an extent that you always feel like you’ve given your all.” He said. Then he touched on the importance of education and the value of making sacrifices, in order to have consistency both on the pitch and off it, in general life. Wise words from someone who is deeply aware of the difficult realities that his country faces, and that he continues to fight.
