It’s the start of two special years for the Israeli-Palestinian Inter Campus project. The children from the Abu Tor centre in Jerusalem, situated along the old border with Jordan on the Green Line, recently made their long-awaited return to the pitch, while the girls from Beit Safafa, also in East Jerusalem, will be able to continue their activities, having managed to meet for several training sessions even during the complicated season that just ended.
The Catalyst Foundation for Universal Education has partnered with Inter Campus Israel and Palestine from 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2023 to help develop a range of new ideas and initiatives aimed at promoting education, social inclusion and the involvement of families in peace processes. A scientific analysis of the children’s resilience over the two years will also be carried out.
The project is much more than just football. There will be opportunities to deepen mutual understanding between children, teachers, coaches and parents alongside traditional training sessions on the pitch. This is something we’ve been working towards for several years with increasingly encouraging results.
The project’s success is also thanks to our local partner Social Goal and all the coaches and local teachers, who will play an even more important role from now on. As well as coaching, they are becoming catalysts for enthusiasm and the common goal of using football as a tool for education, fun and peace.
