[ANGOLA: DIFFERENT GENERATIONS COME TOGETHER WITH THE CHILDREN’S FUTURE IN MIND]

Among the things to note about our project in Angola is the fact that there are numerous coaches who were once Inter Campus children. Beni, Geovani, Osvaldo, Ismail, Zidane, Francisco Dos Santos, Creuso, Sani, Jassy, Julio, Divano, Josè, Milton, Luis, Noè, Sergio, Cosmin, Carlos, Ju, DoRivaldo and Deyris all fall into this category. This is testament to the great work that has been carried out together with the Polidesportivo Dom Bosco dei Padri Salesiani, our project partners, for a long time now.  The work we do aims to raise awareness of the importance of continuously transmitting values such as respect, trust, teamwork, solidarity and loyalty, all of which are fundamental when growing up.

Our recent visit was an important opportunity to discover the precarious family situations that exist, situations that we immediately brought to the attention of our partner’s educators and social workers through meetings held with the children’s families. This allowed us to discover the appreciation that the parents have for this project, which keeps youngsters away from the dangers of the streets and helps them with their schooling.

However, there’s always time for a bit of football: all the children took to the pitch and got to enjoy a training session led by Silvio and Fabio, with a final practice match finishing things off. The project has been so successful that, in addition to the seven sites where we currently work in Luanda, Dondo and Calulo, Polidesportivo Dom Bosco dei Padri Salesiani has asked us to extend our project to Benguela, 500 km further south, where four boys teams and a girls team are awaiting our arrival. This represents a new challenge which we’ll be gladly taking on from January.

A special thank you goes to Inter Club members: they’re helping to support the Angolan project this year by joining their respective Clubs, with the Clubs themselves making a contribution through fundraising activities.
