[INTER CAMPUS TOGETHER WITH GIOCO AL CENTRO]

MILAN – “Games, by remaining games can captivate the world,” said the poet and writer Gianni Rodari whose stories and nursery rhymes captured the attention of thousands of children. He defined games as one of the most effective instruments for peace, friendship and entertainment and as a vital way for people to live well. Play was at the centre of the special day at the Parco Giochi Indro Montanelli which saw a new area with inclusive equipment open on Saturday 21st April so that disabled and non-disabled children can join in and play together.

Gioco al Centro is an initiative that forms part of the Progetto Parchi Gioco per Tutti which focuses on the importance of play for all children, which is also promoted by the new Fondazione di Comunità Milano and Fondazione Cariplo together with the Council of Milan which have identified the needs for children and disabled children in particular to have the right to play as a matter of urgency.

Following the presentation to the press and the symbolic ribbon cutting by Mayor Giuseppe Sala along with the Fondazione Caripolo’s President Giuseppe Guzzetti, the event began in a party atmosphere with the children in attendance trying out the new games under guidance from instructors and they took part in a classical orchestra, made magic bubbles of soap, became the key figures in a theatrical production and enjoyed the experience of scoring goals together with Inter Campus coaches.

As Carlotta Moratti from the Promotional Committee from the Fondazione di Comunità Milano and Inter Campus President said: “The social project from F.C Internazionale has been brought forth in 29 countries with giving boys and girls the right to play in their natural environment after it is often denied to them.” Because of these key principles while the promoters aim to build accessible parks in all nine of Milan’s municipalities, Inter Campus along with the organisation’s coaches have fitted out a caged football pitch for disabled and non-disabled children who tested it out with exercises on the ball that were designed to involve everybody.
