CALI – The Colombian welcome goes beyond when it’s just time for training. For the arrival of Inter Campus, every pitch becomes colourful and fills with music and people ready to welcome the Nerazzurri’s delegation. The kids want to show what they’ve made at school and there is no shortage of welcoming words in Italian and references to football. There are those who sing anthems (The Colombian, Italian and Pazza Inter of course) while there are others who dance traditional dances.

After the pleasantries, everyone wants to play. The celebrations therefore continue on the pitch with technical and fun drills and some skills contests. There’s then a match to bring things to a close. Everyone is being watched by their parents who always turn up in great numbers in this area. They’re also partaking in a journey of sharing and growth so we can understand together how to better the lives of their children.

Before leaving, there is a visit to Cali’s University of Sport where the project is presented. It’s an institution with a national scope for the boys and girls who decide to dedicate their lives to Colombian sport. Even if they don’t become managers, coaches or team managers, they’re all aware of the important social and educational role that they are responsible for after their exams.
