MILAN – Saturday 14 November saw Inter Campus team up with the children’s cancer ward at Monza Hospital and the Maria Letizia Verga Committee to bring together children recovering from leukaemia and those recently cured of the disease for the second time this season. The initiative is designed to promote the psychological and emotional recovery of the kids through sport and recreation.
The children had the chance to visit the Centro Sportivo Giacinto Facchetti, enjoying a variety of exercises and practice games under the watchful gaze of Inter Campus coaches Alberto Giacomini, Fabio Perfetti and Davide Lubas.
The little warriors showed bags of fighting spirit, eager to play football and determined to return to their normal lives. We asked young Asya how, at the age of just ten, she was able to overcome such a mighty struggle. “Just never stop smiling – there’s a cure for everything,” she replied, with a maturity that belied her years and a sense of joy that filled our hearts with hope.
