In late February, Alberto Giacomini, Raffaele Quaranta and Massimo Seregni undertook the first real Inter Campus update course for local coaches in Katanga, a new member of the Inter Campus circuit, involving the communities of Cawama, Bakanja Centre and Jemaa Yetu, where ALBA (Secular Association for African Children) already operates.

In the days of theoretical and practical instruction for the instructors, with the participation of two hundred local boys and girls involved, a day of games, competitions and a final party followed. Another magic moment was the visit to a natural park, with thirty children and, in particular, the young girls of the RODE project, designed for the recovery of girls living on the streets. There was a great sense of joy for these children who, to our amazement, had never had a chance to see animals such as giraffes, zebras and kudu due to the chaos of big city living. The rainy season, which fortunately spared our days on the pitch, finally arrived to “bless” the trip with a strong tropical downpour to mark the conclusion of our visit.

A special thanks goes out to the Trust Merchant Bank in Lubumbashi, which specifically supports Inter Campus in Congo, and to the Casa degli Italiani, the cultural association of Italians living in Katanga.
