MILAN – A few days ago an extra-special Inter Campus visit to Angola came to an end. To start with, a new Inter Campus group was finally opened with the Salesians Fathers in Benguela, south of Luanda, with 80 children. The opening ceremony involved SGEO, the local sponsor and the local sports authorities as they launched a course with 15 coaching teachers, who took part in the morning theory sessions and practical sessions with the kids in the afternoon, along with our very own Alberto Giacomini and Silvio Guareschi.
Another key moment saw the president of UNOSDP (United Nations Office on Sport for Development and Peace) Dr Winfred Lemke, visit the Inter Campus project in Luanda, which receives support from the Lumbe Lumbe association and local Salesians. The president of Inter Campus, Carlotta Moratti was accompanied by Fr Stefano Tollu, who is in charge of the Don Bosco sports complex, as they demonstrated the importance of the event which had been achieved through sport by the “treinoeducadores” trained by Inter Campus in this shanty town. On the occasion Dr Lemke also presented the children who had won a girls’ tournament with their prizes. The president of the APC (African Paralympic Committee), Dr. Da Rocha Pinto, had favourable words to say regarding Inter Campus activities and promised concrete aid for the sporting and educational project.
