[INTER CAMPUS DELIVERS DIVERSITY WINS WORKSHOPS TO OVER 200 SCHOOL CHILDREN]

Over the past couple of months, Show Racism the Red Card partner Inter Campus has delivered the Diversity Wins workshops to over 200 school children to three different schools in the area of Milan, Italy. Racism and discrimination have been hot topics in football and society. The Show Racism the Red Card ‘Diversity Wins’ educational programme addresses topics surrounding racism and discrimination. In the interactive workshops, the children even created their own song against racism and bullying.

“We are all special, helping people in need, being inclusive, we are all different”

The workshops touch upon understanding what racism is, but also about how differences between people can lead to prejudice and exclusion, if we do not accept that everyone is different. One of the children that participated in the workshops said “These meetings let me understand we are all the same, and we all have the Right to Play. No matter if a child is different from us, because we are equal!” That it is important to celebrate diversity was also acknowledge by another student; “There are a lot of people around the world, and we are all different. We have to accept our differences!”

The educators from Inter Campus delivered some of the first sessions in an online environment. As soon as COVID-restrictions allowed it, sessions were delivered in-class to over 200 school children as well as 25 teachers in three different schools. Inter Campus will continue delivering the workshops in September 2021 in other schools as well.

The project is co-funded by the European Union.
