VORONEZH – At the start of every season, the over-riding emotion is the joy on the kids’ faces when they receive their new playing shirts.
Inter Campus, in partnership with Pirelli, has been working in Voronezh since 2012 and this feeling hasn’t changed; nor has the project’s objective of using football to help the educational development of children left without parental care.
In the city 500 kilometres to the south of Moscow, Inter Campus has joined forces with the Rodnik Foundation, which works at Orphanage No.1 in Voronezh. Since the beginning of this year, the local foundation has also started at the Bobrov Orphanage, which oversees the teaching of children without parents and has an active role in the education of children with varying abilities.
During our visit, children from both centres were brought together for a day of activities. Inter Campus coaches Juri Monzani and Davide Lubes, helped by local trainers Alexei and Vadim, organised a tournament on the pitch at the orphanage in Voronezh, which was built thanks to Inter Campus and Pirelli Tyre Russia.
The names of the teams taking part were Respect, Happiness, Solidarity, Tolerance, Friendship and Honesty. All the children were symbolically awarded with prizes.
